Understanding Attribute Damage Mechanics on L2Kain
Learn how attribute damage is calculated on our server to enhance your gameplay. Here's a clear breakdown:
General Principles
- Attack Type Matters:
- Attribute effects differ between skills and regular attacks.
- Skills:
- Most physical skills don’t have an attribute unless enhanced through sharpening. (Example if a Duelist has Vesper Dual Swords with lvl7 Fire attribute and his skills are enchanted on Duel the bonus of the Element from the weapons will not be applied to the Damage output of the skill used.)
- If a skill’s attribute doesn’t match the weapon’s attribute, the weapon attribute won’t apply.
- Skills with attributes have a base attack value (usually 20) added to the total from equipment and effects.
- Regular Attacks:
- The attribute shown in the character status window is used.
- Defense Subtraction:
- The attack removes the target’s corresponding attribute defense. (Attack Attribute - Defense Attribute)
- The remaining value becomes the effective attack value.
Attribute Bonus Calculation
- Effective attack values yield the following bonuses:
- 0 or less: No bonus.
- 1–49: Linearly increasing bonus from 0% to 20%.
- 50–149: Flat 20% bonus.
- 150–299: Flat 40% bonus.
- 300 or more: Flat 70% bonus.
General Misconceptions
- Q: Does having more attack always result in better damage?
- A: Not always. There’s no difference in the bonus between effective attack values of 50–149 or 150–299.
- Q: Does having defense greater than the attack reduce the total damage dealt?
- A: Only partially. This affects the attribute bonus but not the base attack value.
- Q: Does attribute defense reduce the damage of non-attribute attacks?
- A: No, attribute defense has no impact on non-attribute attacks.
